Material ECologies
Master project focussing on circularity, machine learning and computational design. Postgraduate design studio taught at Eindhoven University of Technology (NL) I 2022
Studio tutors: Cristina Nan, Fraser Morrison
Machine Learning Specialist: Dogyun Kim, Harvard GSD.
Investigated Territory: Heijplaat, Port of Rotterdam
Concrete Futures
Assistant Professor Cristina Nan teamed up with Vertico, 3D concrete printing company, to teach the seminar Concrete Futures, at department of Architectural Design and Engineering of the Technical University of Eindhoven I 2021
Students were invited to explore algorithm-aided design and to develop parametric columns for 3D concrete printing.
Collaborator: Vertico, Eindhoven, NL
Port of Rotterdam
This research simulates and anticipates on a territorial level the impact of increased automation on the Port of Rotterdam, the city at large and its inhabitants. The project focuses on human inclusion zones within the landscapes of future hyper-automation. New scenarios for accommodating human activity zones within these infrastructural automation zones.

Papillon D’OR, Festival of ARchitecture Montpellier
This work relates to Cristina’s long-term research related to algorithmic design, advanced digital fabrication and manufacturing techniques for lightweight protostructures. Papillon d’Or won the People’s Choice Award at competition for the international Festival of Architecture 2019 in Montpellier: a parametrically generated pavilion structure.
Porto Design Biennale
‘Light Reveal’ encourages interaction from passers by and offers the public a beautiful, playful, soul- lifting experience with the everyday. The installation changes throughout the day due to sunlight as does the colourful play of shadows due to the dichroic foil.
london design fair
For the London Design Fair 2016, the MSc Material Practice programme, University of Edinburgh, was commissioned by Craft Scotland with the design of a temporary canopy structure for the terrace space of the Truman Brewery London.
Superinfrastructures. Supercities. SuperDutch.

Riba exhibition
On the occasion of the Bauhaus school’s centennial year, this display of work demonstrates a continuity of practice and thinking in future generations of practitioners, as regards the contested future of industry and industrial production –tempered by skill and craftsmanship – within the wider built, natural and cultural environment.
IDENCITY, ROCA GALLERY, LONDON
Participating in a group exhibition, the karge scaled model proposed a new form of large-scale infrastructure for London. One that goes beyond the brief for a station as a point of entry and exit to one that encourages you to linger, learn and skill up.
london reloaded
The concept for the new nhow London provides a space where tradition and innovation collide, and old London is reloaded. Located in a district marked by an industrial past and technological future, nhow soaks up those contracts and plays with them in an unconventional and disruptive way. As part of a group of internationally acclaimed artists Fraser contributed a large scale drawing for permanent installation in the hotels ground floor reception area.
RTD
This research explores the emerging future field of fabric form work for concrete structures in combination with silicone 3d printing. The columns were exhibited at the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh.
